MACTs biennial short play festival, FAST Fest, was held August 15 & 16 at the Encore Performing Arts Center in Cloquet, MN, hosted by County Seat Theatre Company.
The festival kicked off on Friday night with a welcome party at the Encore Performing Arts Center. This was an opportunity to see the facility (tours were available) and network with fellow thespians. Light snacks were provided by the MACT Board and our hosts, wine was available for purchase.
Saturday morning lead off with your choice of either of two workshops. That was followed by a two show performance session. Lunch was be on your own at your choice of the many local eateries or at the TJs Worst Brats wagon which was provided on-site. Saturday afternoon was the second performance session. Dinner was on your own at your choice of the manu local eateries. Saturday evening there will be the final performance session, followed by an afterglow networking opportunity at Carmens. Cash bar with light food provided.
Each performance was limited to 20 minutes. There was be a short, moderator led colloquy after each performance.
Each peformance had have 5 minutes to setup, 20 minutes to perform and 5 minutes to strike. We provided a table and four chairs. Performing companies could bring in one additional set piece and costumes and props as needed. There was no rehearsals on the stage before the performances. There were be NO LIGHTING SPECIALS allowed, a standard plot of 4 areas of warm and cool wash were be provided.
The festival was open to Community theatres and high school and college theatre programs. Registration for performing companies was free to MACT members. Non-MACT-members were charged a $20 registration fee which includes a 6 month MACT membership (July through December).
