Navigate terrifying sets of ghouls and monsters, winding hallways and dark corners when ScaritageFest opens Fridays and Saturdays, Oct 20 through Oct 28, and Tuesday, Oct 31. Hours are 6:30-10:00 pm, and admission is $5 for each attraction. Halloween costumes are encouraged and large groups are welcome.
There are two separate attractions to ScaritageFest:
Haunted Theater: designed and operated by more than 35 local actors and technicians, it offers a sprawling attraction of props and special effects populated with an undead army of zombies and unrested souls.
Haunted Door Maze: a frightening indoor labyrinth packed with beasts ready to terrorize anyone coming their way.
Were creating new sets and a legion of ghastly characters and creatures, said director Vicki Kuehn. This is one haunted attraction you do not want to miss. The actual State Street Theater is as creepy as it gets. It was a school auditorium that opened in 1938 and had an evil janitor, Walter, who was never caught and brought to justice. Does he haunt the halls of the school to this day? Among the rooms are Walters workshop, boiler room, and even the janitors student holding cell. Legend also has it that over 75 years ago a young actor was released from his leading role before opening night. Distraught, he left town to live with his grandmother and has never been seen again until now. It is thought the restoration efforts of the theater have stirred up his wandering soul to wreak havoc on all who enter.
