Minnesota Short Play Company (Minneapolis) presents:
"Mehitabel Has an Adventure"
Written by: Don Marquis
Directed by: Marion Blomgren
Produced by: William P. Muchow
Cast
Mehitabel: Vickijoan Keck
Mehitabel is an alley cat who believes she was Cleopatra in another life. In this solo monologue, she tells her friend Archy the cockroach about her adventures in a posh area of Long Island, and how she got revenge on Fluffy, a Long Island Tabby who insulted her. Archy and Mehitabel are the creation of Don Marquis (1878-1937), an american writer and newspaperman of the early 20th century. For more information see www.dommarquis.com.
Vickijoan Keck is an actress, storyteller & performer who by day is the Copy Queen at Augsburg College. You often see her gallivanting about at the local theatres and such on the West Bank of the U, where she resides with her belocved cat "Princess Muk Muk". She especially enjoys telling folktales and whimsical rhymes by the likes of Edward Lear, A. A. Milne and Ogden Nash. She is delighted to have the opportunity to channel her feline instincts as Mehitabel, one of her favorite creatures!
Marion Blomgren is happy to be back doing theatre after many years of being an appreciative audience member - which is also an important contribution. Thank you audience!
And thank you also to Bill Wittenbreer for rehearsal space, Jon Skaalen for letting me give it a trial run, Donna Norberg for her encouragement, Augsburg College for the copies, and of course William P. Muchow - You Rock!
This performance is dedicated to Joseph Sodd III, a 20 year old dancer who was murdeered outside my home on June 18th. Rest in Peace!
"Violence, Archy, always does something to my nerves!" Mehitabel
