In 8 million or billion-ought-something B.C., the heavens and earth parted and there was light.

In 1606, Macbeth, hearing of his lady's death, said, "Out, out, brief candle."

In 1876, Thomas Edison built his first high resistance, incandescent electric light.

In 1968, acclaimed British theatre director Peter Brook wrote about the darkness and light of the modern stage in "The Empty Space".

In 2007, the author deducted his trip to Edison's Winter Estate in Ft Myers, Florida, to gather research for this play.

In 2007, the intended narrator, Julliette Silvers, deducted her trip to Australia to research the Austrailian flag, which someone described to her as a yellow circle on a horizontally divided field of black and red.

In 2007, the intended momma of the play, Sam Jasmine, engaged in certain inalienable activities to research the light, liberty and persuit of happiness of her character, and on May 9th of this year, gave birth to a 9-pound baby boy.

We all think theatre is serious business.

Finally, in 2008, Minnesota Sixth District Representative Michele Bachmann, pondering all these things in her heart asked: How many members of Congress does it take to change a light bulb?

We hope you find out by the end of this 20-minute play.

We hope we do, too.
