Julianna gave the group a tour of the renovated Paradise Center for the Arts from basement to lighting booth.  
 
 
 
Call to order/Intros/Secretary report & Treasurer reports.
Meeting called to order at 3:20pm. 
 
  • Secretary Report – no report to approve/Julianna still has the minutes from the October meeting.  
  • Treasurer Report – not much recent activity.   Larry forwarded the reports along to everyone as he was unable to attend today’s meeting.   Total equity $28K.    We have leveraging $ to take MACT into the future.   Bill moved to accept report as presented/Sara 2nd – passed. 
  • Reminder – membership payments are now due. (Membership form available on-line) Julianna will be sending emails to members as a reminder.   Can Larry send email from database?   J will check with L.  
 
 
 
 
Newsletter
o        Julianna & Sara had a newsletter meeting.   A newsletter will be sent out the beginning of the year including the membership renewal information.  
o        Items to be included in newsletter:   article from the AACT Madison conference on theater ratings of shows. (also available on the AACT website)
o        Article on the modified tax changes fro non-profits – Bill will send to Julianna. 
 
 
MACT Fest 2009
o        100 Applications were sent out. Replies are being sent to Theater in the Round (TRP) so we don’t know at this point how many have been received.  
o        Burnsville may be interested – Bill is talking to the Burnsville Performing Arts Center people.   Faribault may also be interested – ‘commuter fest’. 
o        AACT changes for 2009 – National adjudicators may adjudicate two state festivals.   The National adjudicators for 2009 are Mary Britt, Ross Roland & Morrie Anders. 
o        State with 4 or more theaters can send 2 shows to regionals (to increase attendance at these events). 
o        Audience members no longer have to see ALL the adjudications to rate the adjudicators – only have to see 80% of them. 
o        IDEA: hand-out (and collect) adjustor rate sheets before the award banquet begins.   More may be returned.  
 
 
 
 
Website Proposal
o        Larry has done A LOT of work with his friend Dave on the data base design.  
o        The site is built and will be ready to go LIVE on February 1, 2008 – at that point, the old site will be shut-down. 
o        The Board previously authorized $3000 (with ballpark figure) for the new site. 
o        Julianna gave those present a list of bullet points from Larry with all the great things that the new site will be able to do. 
o        Recommendation of the Website committee is to proceed with the new site.    Discussion.    LET”S MOVE ON THIS!!!!
o        Bill mentioned that Applause Community Theater is now selling tickets on-line (via PayPal) via a program borrowed from Chameleon Theatre Circle (program written by Nigel Linden). 
o        Payments online (PayPal) would be nice for membership dues, Fast-Fest tickets, MACT Fest tickets/packages, etc. 
 
 
Creation in Common Proposal
o        Creation in Common provides strategic services for nonprofits, foundations and government agencies. Our mission is to strengthen communities through shared creativity. 
o        We would use this service for Grant Writing.   Dana Gillespie is a development specialist we would work with to obtain grants in order to hire our part-time Associate Director. 
o        CIC has a great/proven track record. The charge is $90/hr. Julianna will be meeting with Dana to go over the work we did in September (at Mark’s house).  
o        Discussion – investment in MACT’s future.   Bill will talk to Julie Angelo (AACT) before we proceed with the hiring of CIC.   Bill will call Julianna the first week in January. 
o        We should start looking for the Associate Director by early spring.   Place ads on TC Theater & Film; Callboard.org; etc. We’ll see where the grant proposals are by spring.     
o        Seeking A/D with theater background, dynamic, self-starter, someone to guide us to the next level, etc.
