Flo Goodrich
Originally from New York, Flo Goodrich and her husband Herb moved to St. Cloud in 1970 and immediately became involved in productions such as Barefoot in the Park and Lion in Winter. She served on the board of the Troupe Theater, the oldest community theatre in St. Cloud, for almost 30 years, retiring in 1999. She was instrumental in founding County Stearns Theatrical Company and United Arts of Central Minnesota, was a director and volunteer for the Central Minnesota Childrens Theatre during its early years, and worked with Quite Light Opera and other St. Cloud performing arts groups. For 20 years she led a childrens show that Troupe toured to area schools. Laurie Johnson, who was the first board president of the childrens theatre and recently cofounded St. Cloud Civic Theatre, said, I dont think there is a child in a school within 20 miles that hasnt had either her touring show or her workshops in their school. Her commitment to children and to creating opportunities for them to explore the magic and creativity of theatre is unquestionable and unequaled in our community. Flo also worked in high schools as a director and acting coach and has performed throughout Minnesota. She accepted her award on April 3 at the state community theatre play festival in Crookston.
