MACT announces that MACT*Fest 2021 took place in Pipestone, Minnesota, September 17th through 19th. Calumet Players and Pipestone Performing Arts Center hosted the festival, where audiences enjoyed a wide variety of 60 minute (maximum) plays performed by theatres from across Minnesota, and had the opportunity to attend theatre workshops on topics relevant to actors, directors, technical crews and all fans of community theatre.
At the August 7th Board meeting it was decided that, for everyones safety and comfort, masks will be required in the theatre, lobby and workshop rooms by everyone not performing or presenting. Please note that we will continue to monitor and follow any and all CDC and MDH Covid pandemic related rules and guidelines at all MACT*Fest events.
The festival kicked off on Friday night at 7:00 PM with "O Romeos, Romeos" from Ole Olson Onstage That will be followed by "How to Host a Murder Mystery Dinner Party (in fifteen simple steps)" from Stage & Spotlights Community Theatre. The final show of the evening will be "After the Flags and Band" from our host theatre company, Calumet Players.
Saturday morning started with two workshop sessions. At 9:00 AM you could choose between "Communications Between All Aspects of the Production" or "Open Forum on Tech Issues in Theatre". For the 10:30 AM workshops you could choose between "Learning Accents and Dialects" and "The Nuts and Bolts of Directing".
The curtain came up on the Satuday afternoon performance session at 1:00 with "CasaBlanche" from Marshall Area Stage Company. That was followed by "If the Shoe Fits ..." from Paynesville Community Theater.
Saturday nights performance session started at 7:00 with "The 3 Way" from Mindless Mirth Productions. The final show of the festival was "The Fallen Angel" from Taken for Granite Players. That was followed by a social event at Bole-Mor Lanes where attendees could share their thoughts about the shows (or anything else you choose) with fellow festival attendees.
On Sunday morning at 9:30 AM there was an Awards Brunch at the Pipestone Country Club where various awards were presented to the performing companies and individuals, including the two "Best of Fest" shows. (See list by clicking here.)
