MACT is please to announce the dates and location for MACT*Fest 2017.

MACT*Fest 2017 will be held March 1st through 5th, 2017 at the Schwan’s Community Center for the Performing Arts in Marshall, MN hosted by Marshall Area Stage Company.  The festival will be co-chaired by MACT’s President, Bob Schwoch and MACT’s Secretary, Maureen Keimig (who are also both members of our host theatre company, Marshall Area Stage Company).

Deadline for entering your theatre to present a show at MACT*Fest 2017 was December 16th.  We received 11 entrys by the registration date, so all 11 of those theatres will be in the festival.  Those theatres, and their shows are (NOTE: this may not be the final performance order):

  • Calumet Players - Always a Bridesmaid
  • Applause Community Theatre - Mr. Burns, a post-electric play (Act I)
  • The Play’s The Thing Productions - Unnecessary Farce
  • Marshall Area Stage Company - The Phony Physician
  • Fungus-Amongus Players - The Voice of the Prairie
  • GREAT Theatre - The BFG: Big Friendly Giant
  • MN SkyVault Theatre - On the Road to Verona
  • Ensemble Theatre Company - Run For Your Wife
  • Ole Olson Onstage - Lyin’ Leo of Lyon County
  • County Seat Theater Company - The Mad Tea Party

The Schwan’s Community Center for the Perforing Arts is a fairly new, state of the art facility attached to Marshall High School.  The auditorium seats 700.

Rehearsals will begin Wednesday night (Calumet and MASC) and continue Thursday all day, Friday morning and Saturday morning.  There will be workshops Friday and Saturday morning.  Performances will be Friday afternoon (2 shows), Friday evening (3 shows), Saturday afternoon (3 shows) and Saturday evening (2 shows).  The weekend will colminate with an awards brunch Sunday morning.

We have reserved a limited number of rooms at a special rate at the following two hotels:

Sleep Inn (main hotel) 507-337-0103  $95/night

Americinn 507-537-9424  $82/night Wed. & Thurs. - $99/night Fri. & Sat.

Ask for the MACT rate.  These hotels are across the highway from each other and within a mile of the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts (Marshall High School).
