A bunch of writers, directors and actors ...
And none of them know what they are doing!
The participants will create a new show, and all aspects thereof, in 24 hours and present it to the public.
The process is: Those interested in participating (writing, directing, props, costumes, acting) will meet at 7 pm on Friday, July 7, at the BCT Performing Arts Center. We will explain the process of Out Of The Hat and ask everyone there to write on slips of paper: an opening line for a script, a location, and an object that must be used in the script. Then the writers will draw three slips, one from each hat. They will have 12 hours to write a 10 to 15 minute skit. They send the scripts to BCT and we will print them out. At 8 am on Saturday, July 8, directors, actors and tech people will meet at BCT. There will be three hats, one with the script titles, one with female actors and one with male actors. Each director will draw a play, then draw the actors needed for that play. They then have 12 hours to rehearse and figure out tech requirements. At 7 pm on July 8, the skits will be presented to an audience. As BCT is a family oriented organization, the skits will be PG13.
Vicki Stenerson will be the contact person for those interested in participating. Her email is dramaq57@hotmail.com.
